Polymer Cutting and Granule Production:
When the polymer undergoes continuous cutting within the extruder machine, facilitated by a cutter-like device, it results in the production of adhesive granules. These granules are essentially smaller, more manageable units of the polymer. The process of cutting the polymer into granules allows for easier handling and further processing.
The conversion of polymers into granules takes into account various factors, including their intended application, viscosity, and other characteristics such as the type of polymerization. Different polymers serve different purposes, and their transformation into granules is tailored to meet specific requirements.
Main Objective in Polymer Production:
The primary objective of polymer production is to achieve a substance with desirable properties. Several factors play a crucial role in determining and controlling these properties during the polymerization process. Elements like temperature, pressure, and catalysts influence the final characteristics of the polymer. The quality and properties of polymers that undergo melting for the first time and are used in manufacturing tend to be superior to those of recyclable polymers that undergo multiple melting cycles.
Despite this, some polymers exhibit resilience and can maintain their properties even after undergoing multiple melting and shaping processes. However, it's noted that in certain cases, such as with PVC, the properties of the polymer may degrade after being reused or recycled.
Granule Production Lines:
In the context of granule production lines, materials derived from recycled plastics often pose challenges due to their sharp edges and asymmetric sheet shapes. These characteristics make it difficult to feed them smoothly into the input funnels of processing machines. As a result, when these recycled materials are mixed with other dissimilar compounds, they may result in uneven sizes.
To address this issue, individuals and industries prefer to acquire materials in granule form, resembling plastic pellets, which are more consistent and easier to handle. The machinery and production lines designed for the specific purpose of transforming raw materials, especially recycled plastics, into granules are referred to as granulation lines. These lines play a crucial role in ensuring uniformity and ease of processing in subsequent manufacturing steps.
